The Christmas at Blenheim Palace event has officially launched with a "magical" new addition.

The launch event saw hundreds of guests enjoying the Great Skate, a covered ice rink set against the backdrop of the Great Court.

The rink has been well-received, with visitors calling it a "magical addition" to the Christmas event.

They were taken through scenes of fairy-dusted Christmas trees, a moonlit London skyline, and the Mermaid Lagoon.

The illuminated trail outside features a series of new light installations, with more than one million lights.

Visitors strolled through glowing tunnels, past sparkling sculptures, and enjoyed Blenheim’s formal gardens.

"From the Great Skate, Neverland in the Palace, to the stunning new illuminated trail installations, we’re thrilled to offer something truly special this year.

"We’re looking forward to welcoming even more visitors in the run-up to Christmas."

The traditional Christmas market, which is set to run until December 22, has also attracted crowds looking to browse its wooden chalets filled with artisan gifts, festive treats, and food.

Blenheim Palace said it is expecting to welcome a record number of visitors this festive season.
