The community in Bicester and Woodstock are invited to get involved with UK Parliament Week (UPWK) this week.

The MP for the constituency, Calum Miller, is inviting everyone in Bicester and Woodstock and across Oxfordshire to get involved in the event which spreads the word about what Parliament is, what it does and how people can get involved.

The event is a way of learning new things about UK Parliament and for communities to engage with democracy in action.

Taking place until November 24, youth groups, community organisations and schools in constituencies across the United Kingdom have signed up to join in this year.

Mr Miller has a programme of visiting local schools, for example recently featuring on St Mary's Roman Catholic Primary School's radio station in an interview with year six pupils.

Everyone who signs up for UK Parliament Week will receive a digital free kit with resources including a booklet with information and activity ideas tailored for youth groups, primary and secondary schools, or adults, a ballot box, bunting, and a unique Give Way card game.

Mr Miller said: “As the MP for Bicester and Woodstock I’m encouraging people in my constituency to sign up for UK Parliament Week 2024.

"My visits as an MP to local schools have been a highlight.

"Children and young people in our primary and secondary schools are full of questions and suggestions on how the grown-ups could run things better.

"I always come away energised and excited for the future.

"I’m looking forward to seeing many groups and organisations join in and welcome this opportunity for communities to come together to find out about UK Parliament.

"Every year it’s fantastic to see so many people actively take part in UK Parliament Week.

"We look forward to lots of UKPW activities taking place in Bicester and Woodstock.”

Last year over 1.6 million people took part in over 16,000 activities in every region and nation of the UK, as well as countries all over the world.
