An unemployed man died in hospital after he collapsed at home, an inquest opening has heard. 

Paul Scudder, of Kellys Road, Wheatley, died at the John Radcliffe Hospital on August 31 this year. 

An inquest was opened into his death at Oxford Coroner's Court by area coroner Nicholas Graham yesterday (Monday, November 18).

The inquest heard that the 43-year-old was unemployed due to ill health. 

Mr Scudder suffered a witnessed collapse at home on August 31 while being assessed by paramedics for shortness of breath.

A post-mortem found his causes of death to be from drug toxicity and bronchopneumonia.

A full inquest will be held at Oxford Coroner's Court on March 17 next year at 2pm.
