An appeal to jail an Oxford trainee teacher who shared over 1,000 clips including the rape of newborn babies and walked free has been lodged.
Jacob Chouffot, of Iffley, distributed and received more than 1,000 of the most serious Category A films and photos between 2015 and 2019
Yet despite the severity of the offences, the 26-year-old was not given a custodial sentence when appearing in Oxford Crown Court this week.
This was because the judge said he was not a direct danger to the public after Chouffot admitted 14 counts of making, possessing and distributing child abuse images.

He was made subject to a Sexual Harm Prevention Order while he must also now do 30 rehab sessions as well as 180 hours of unpaid work.
In addition, the 26-year-old was also ordered to sign the sex offenders register for ten years but no custodial sentence was handed out rather a two-year suspended sentence
Following the news that Chouffat walked free, Conservative Party county and district councillor Liam Walker has called from a stronger sentence.
In a letter penned to Rt Hon Lord Richard Hermer KC, Mr Walker outlined the “grotesque” nature of the paedo’s offences.

“I write with deep concern about the sentence issued to 26-year-old Jacob Chouffot from Oxford who was this week sentenced at Oxford Crown Court after admitting to 14 counts of making, possessing, and distributing child abuse images between 2015-2019.
“Media reports outline how Mr Chouffot used two phones to share and store photos and videos with one phone containing 570 Category A images including 484 images, featuring children as young as six months.
“Another device he had contained 462 Category B and 63 Category C images.
“I cannot comprehend how Mr Chouffot admitting to making, possessing, and distributing such appalling images, with many including babies, has only resulted in him getting a two-year suspended sentence and 180 hours of unpaid work.
“I strongly believe given the grotesque nature of his crimes this Crown Court sentence should be reviewed by your office, and I have therefore formally submitted a request to do so.”

Chouffot was arrested in November 2022 and quit his job shortly afterwards having admitted in a police interview to possessing the media which he shared on WhatsApp and Telegram.
He was then charged 18 months later in July of this year and pleaded guilty at his first hearing.
The court heard he used two phones to share and store photos and videos which featured children as young as six months as well as newborn babies.
