Thame Midsomer Tours has made its largest charitable donation since its inception.

The tours, which have been a hit with Midsomer Murders fans since they began seven years ago, have raised £13,000 for charities through ticket sales.

This year, £1,500 has been donated to each of the mayor's charities, Sharing Life Trust and Lord Williams's School Young Carers, as well as Thame Museum.

Around 3,000 Midsomer fans and tourists from across the globe have participated in the walking tour.

The popular tours explore the 23 filming locations in Thame, one of the most-filmed locations in the Midsomer Murders series.

The charming town often appears as Causton or one of the many picturesque villages in Midsomer County.

The tour is led by a team of seven passionate guides, who are all knowledgeable about the TV series and its production, as well as the local history.

The guides provide interesting facts about each location, including the town hall, which doubles as Causton Town Hall, and Thame Museum.

Participants also learn intriguing details about Thame's history, from its ancient Neanderthal remains to its role in the English Civil War and Queen Victoria's Golden Jubilee.

The Prebendal, one of the Midsomer filming locations, was the home of the late Robin Gibb of the Bee Gees.

Despite being unpaid volunteers, the guides enjoy their work and take great satisfaction in conducting the tours.

They are currently looking for more enthusiasts to join their team.

They encourage those interested in history and Midsomer Murders to get involved, although a love for the series isn’t necessary as full training will be provided.

Tour coordinator Tony Long said: "We’re delighted to have made so much money for local good causes while giving Midsomer fans locally and from countries around the world a wonderful insight into Thame as a major Midsomer filming location and as a fascinating town in its own right."

The tours have been described as a great opportunity to meet fellow Midsomer fans from the local area, the UK, and around the world.

Thame Midsomer Tours are set to resume every Wednesday from April 2, 2025, and they invite all fans to join them for a tour.

Mr Long added: "Please join us for a tour when the new season starts in April 2025 and help local causes at the same time."
