A suspended Ministry of Defence police officer has been handed a community order and alcohol treatment plan after assaulting his wife at home in an incident last year.
Daryn Uwins, 46, of Brans Hill Avenue, High Wycombe, was sentenced at Oxford Magistrates' Court on Tuesday afternoon (November 12).
The court heard police had attended his home address on September 17 last year when Nicole Uwins, the defendant’s wife, called them because her husband was “extremely intoxicated” and “smashing up the house”.

She said that Uwins physically restrained her on a bed by holding her wrists, though she sustained no injuries. Mrs Uwins withdrew support for the prosecution after the incident.
In a statement at the scene, she said “nothing like this had happened before” and Uwins “was only like this when he’s drinking”.
The court heard Uwins had described his marriage to police as “good,” the couple have reunited and are “working through their issues” and he is no longer “drinking problematically”.
The defence said Uwins was awaiting the result of an allegation made against him at work and had been “really unhappy” for months, and attempted to take his own life earlier in the year, for which he was prescribed an antidepressant.

It was heard that he “learnt a hard lesson” as when he stopped taking it abruptly without medical advice it had a profound effect on his mood.
Uwins previously pleaded guilty on the day of trial at an earlier hearing.
He was sentenced to a 24-month community order and a six-month alcohol treatment programme.
He was also ordered to pay a fine, victim surcharge and court costs totalling £547.
