“Details of the incident are still under investigation, so no further comment is possible at this stage.

“The ambulance service took the precaution of having the air ambulance in attendance, due to the distance the injured person was from the road it was decided to use the helicopter to take them to hospital for further assessment and treatment.”

Liberal Democrat MP Olly Glover who represents Didcot has been contacted for comment.

Didcot Railway Centre is a railway museum and preservation engineering site which was used as a Great Western Railway engine shed and locomotive stabling point in the past.

The centre hosts many events for families and steam enthusiasts throughout the year including Steam Days with rides on locomotives and Heritage Diesel Days.

It also hosts special themed days including Steam Into Christmas and a Christmas Carol event scheduled for December 17 which has sold out.
