A homeless man has been jailed for 24 weeks for assaulting his daughter’s partner through the window of his living room.
Adrian Bottley, 26, of no fixed abode, pleaded guilty at an earlier hearing this month to assaulting Jeremy Kuziara and was sentenced at Oxford Magistrate's Court yesterday afternoon (November 12).
The incident occurred at about 7pm on September 22 this year when Bottley was walking past his daughter’s house on Priory Road.

Mr Kuziara was sitting on the sofa in the ground floor living room of the house when Bottley reached in and grabbed his shoulder. As Mr Kuziara attempted to close the window, the attacker repeatedly punched his arm.
The court heard that Bottley had previously stated he “wanted blood” in reference to the victim and was heard saying “he f*****g deserved it” as he left the court.

The defendant has a long criminal record, with the most recent convictions dealing with actual bodily harm and criminal damage in Oxfordshire in May this year, as well as historic convictions of drug offences and common assault.
Bottley was under a 24-week jail sentence suspended for 24 months at the time of the crime, which was activated by the court.
He was also found in violation of a restraining order which had been previously issued and was inconsistent in his compliance with probation services, failing to attend an appointment just last week.

The court also heard that Bottley was attempting to “get clean” independently, against the advice of rehabilitation programme Turning Point, and that three drug tests he completed in October all came back positive for “a range” of substances.
Probation officers described the defendant as “quite chaotic”.
The defence explained that Mr Bottley has had issues with the law since he was a young man and close family member was sentenced to 17 years in prison.
His criminal record began in 2007, but the defence argued that his circumstances are improving, stating “To say Mr Bottley’s life is chaos now is accurate, but it is nothing compared to what it was before.
“I wish I could stand up here and say that Mr Bottley’s demons have all been conquered, but that simply isn’t the case as there is a lot of work to be done.”

The court heard Bottley had returned from Merseyside, where he had been living, to act as primary carer for his sick mother after she suffered a stroke and other health issues.
The defence said: “What Mr Bottley is, and what he has always been, is a family man.”
As the suspended sentence was activated, the defendant was sentenced to 24 weeks and a year-long restraining order was put in place stating Bottley cannot contact the victim or attend his address.
He was ordered to pay costs of £85.
