The community has paid tributes to a man who was found in the River Thames near Heyford Hill in Oxford at the weekend.

Thames Valley Police officers were called to the Thames Path, near Heyford Hill just before 9.30am on Saturday (November 9).

A man aged in his 60s was confirmed dead at the scene.

His next of kin have been made aware and are being supported by officers.

It comes after there have been other high profile deaths in the city this year which have rocked the community.

This includes Corpus Christi student Alexander Rogers, 20, who was found near Donnington Bridge on January 15 this year.

An inquest took place into his death over two days at Oxford Coroner's Court last week where it was heard he had taken his own life after reports of being "ostracised" by his peer due to an allegation which was unproven.
