An MP will host a public meeting to hear constituents' views on assisted dying ahead of a vote in parliament.

Witney MP Charlie Maynard will chair a public discussion on Labour MP Kim Leadbeater's bill which would allow adults who are terminally ill, subject to safeguards and protections, to request and be provided with assistance to end their own life.

MPs will have a free vote on the proposed legislation on November 29.

Mr Maynard said he is "seeking insights from the community to better understand local perspectives on this highly sensitive issue".

He said: “Given the profound implications of this bill, it’s crucial to hear from our community members.
