As towns and villages around Oxfordshire mark Remembrance Day with parades, religious services and other activities, we've taken a look back through the Oxford Mail archive to see what happened on this day in 1998.
In Oxford city centre, at St Giles' War Memorial, hundreds of people attended a parade and service to pay their respects to those who lost their lives in conflicts.
Veterans lay wreaths of poppies at the memorial, as people of all ages observed the international day of remembrance.

Lord mayor of Oxford Carole Roberts was in attendance, and Parade Marshall Roy Thomas led a parade accompanied by the music of the Band of the Salvation Army.
