Bicester Town Council is remaining tight-lipped over the weekend closure of a well-used sports ground.
Bicester Town Council announced that Whiteland's Farm Sports Ground would be closed on Saturday and Sunday until further notice last Tuesday (October 29) in a public statement.
In a statement, the council said: "The circumstances are both unfortunate and unavoidable and we will do everything we can to return the service as soon as possible."
The sports ground, located on Whitelands Way, is Bicester's "premier sports facility" used for sports including football and rugby.

It also has a perimeter track for runners and cyclists to use.
We have been repeatedly been referred to the town clerk, Phil Evans, for comment on the closure.
Mr Evans has failed to respond, but it is understood the weekend closures are related to a HR internal matter.
It is also understood that clubs that use the facility at weekends were dealt with and contacted directly by the council.

A number of town councillors told us last week that they were not informed about the weekend closure.
One of these was Conservative county councillor Donna Ford, who said: "I am thoroughly disappointed that councillors have not been made aware.
"I emailed the chair of environment last night for an explanation, however I am yet to hear back."
