A stunning 22ft Guy Fawkes face replica was the standout feature of an Oxfordshire bonfire night this weekend.

The Wallingford 1155 Fireworks and Bonfire was held on Saturday, November 2 and saw a massive turnout from the town.

A 22ft Guy Fawkes atop Bonfire was skilfully created by the Corn Exchange who will receive a donation for their help.

The choreography of the fireworks to music was down to Karl Mitchell-Shead from Wallingford and his award-winning team at Illusion Fireworks.

Wallingford 1155 chairman Mark Brett MBE said: “Each of the 18 Wallingford organisations that helped make this event happen will benefit from a significant donation from the profits, so thanks to the good people of Wallingford and the surrounding area for their generosity.

“This is a huge boost to the good causes involved and ensures the event can be staged next year.

“While this event is managed by 1155, it truly is a community run event in every sense.

“So many people help to make it work, from the volunteers who served beer, hot food, sparkler, to the Scouts who litter picked and the same digger driver who turns up every year at 8am on the Sunday to clear the bonfire.

“Without the generous donations of time, money and goodwill from the people of Wallingford, businesses, charities and all involved, events like this could not take place and we are extremely grateful.

“Your continued support is important; please continue donating and volunteering.”
