Rail passengers with mobility issues are being reminded they can seek help to get to Oxford rail station while work continues on a £161m improvement scheme.

Botley Road has been closed at the rail bridge since April last year and there is no date yet for when it will reopen as a review of the scheme is taking place.

Network Rail bosses have not yet said when they plan to update the public on when the whole scheme will be completed.

The rail infrastructure company is reminding passengers with mobility issues that help is available to get them to the station entrance from the Botley Road side of the bridge.

It said: "We continue to encourage all passengers and those with reduced mobility to access the station from the east side via the main station entrance if possible, as station staff are available to help during station opening hours.

"However, it's recognised that for some the ability to get to the east remains challenging due to the ongoing roadworks affecting access to the station entrance.

"In exceptional circumstances such as this and during dedicated times, GWR will be providing passenger assistance from the west side of the station.

"This will be reachable via a signposted vehicular drop-off and pick up point on Roger Dudman Way.

"Please allow a minimum of 30-40 minutes for assistance from this side to enable staff to get you to the train on time. Operating times for this service will be 7:30am – 9pm Monday to Friday, and 8am – 9pm on Saturday and Sunday."
