Plans for four new buildings at an Oxford science park have been approved.
These proposals are to transform the Eastpoint Business Park in Littlemore into a new flagship life science campus.
Designed by Scott Brownrigg for Railpen, the scheme will bring an additional 200,000 square feet life science space to the Oxford-Cambridge Arc.
Three four-storey laboratory buildings and a single-storey amenity building are within the plans for the site located adjacent to The Oxford Academy.

This development will also provide a focal point for interaction with STEM and educational outreach within the local community according to Scott Brownrigg.
A spokesperson for the company said: “Each fully serviced building is designed to suit a range of tenants and provide flexibility in occupancy, with 55 per cent CL2 laboratory and 45 per cent office space to support cutting-edge research and collaboration.
“A contextual material palette with distinctive horizontal banding and vertical flues references Oxford’s history while ensuring comfortable and naturally lit spaces within and views out.
“An emphasis on facilitating safe pedestrianised movement, activating ground floor frontages, and provision of high-quality public amenities supports the creation of an inclusive environment that contributes positively to the social, ecological, and educational fabric of Littlemore.”
These plans were approved at an Oxford City Planning Committee meeting on Tuesday, October 15.

A spokesperson for Oxford City Council said: “The application was approved at the meeting, although this is subject to a legal agreement with the developer which has been delegated to the head of Planning.
“Formal planning permission will be issued once this agreement has been completed.”
This legal agreement will cover the provision and implementation of a construction (excluding demolition, site clearance and remediation works) and End User Community Employment and Procurement Plans with the City Council.
It also covers commitment to manage and allow public access to the school lab and submission and implementation of a Biodiversity Scheme to secure a Biodiversity Net Gain of 10 per cent.
The legal agreement also concerns £33,432 being paid for a new bus shelter and solar-powered RTI Display on Long Lane as well as £450,387.69 towards the Cowley Branch Line.

In addition, it covers an agreement to enter into a S278 Agreement to carry out highways works and £13,060 towards Travel Plan monitoring for all buildings on site plus an overarching Travel Plan for the whole site.
Scott Brownrigg director Ed Hayden said: “Securing planning approval for the Eastpoint Life Science Campus is a significant milestone in our vision to create world-class research environments.
“This project not only addresses the growing demand for life science space in the Oxford-Cambridge Arc, but also contributes to the community with its focus on education, sustainability, and wellbeing.
“We’re excited to see how this campus will foster innovation and bring global talent to Oxford.”
