UTC Oxfordshire is inviting prospective sixth form students to an open evening.

The open event on Wednesday, November 5, between 5pm and 7pm, will give visitors the chance to look around the STEM specialist school and sixth form.

Staff and students will be on hand to answer questions and give advice.

UTC Oxfordshire, an Ofsted-rated good school located in Harwell, is a university technical college (UTC) specialising in science and engineering.

At the school, students work extensively with employers to develop specialist skills and knowledge relevant to the industry.

Students have the option to study A Levels or technical qualifications – or a combination of both.

An example of one of the challenges students are set is the recent moon base challenge from the Defence Science and Technology Laboratory (DSTL). The laboratory asked Year 12s to compete against other UTCs to create a moon base on Callisto, one of Jupiter’s moons, for mining, colonisation, or research.

Parents and guardians are encouraged to attend if this is the kind of project their child/ren would be interested in getting involved with.

For more information and to book free tickets to the event, please visit the UTC Oxfordshire website.

UTC Oxfordshire is an employer-focused, high-tech school for students aged 14 to 19, specialising in science and engineering.
