An Oxfordshire MP who used to work for Network Rail has been chosen to serve on the cross-party Transport select committee.
Olly Glover, who was elected as the Liberal Democrat MP for Didcot and Wantage in July 2024, said the role was “a real privilege”.
Before becoming an MP, he worked in operations management for various train companies, including Network Rail.

The committee is cross-party and is responsible for holding the Department for Transport to account.
Mr Glover said: “I am delighted to be joining this committee as it’s such an important area, with transport touching all our lives.
“I can also bring my experience and knowledge from years of working in the rail industry to bear.
“I am a strong advocate for affordable bus services which are a vital lifeline for many, especially those in rural areas.
“Having an effective, sustainable, safe and affordable transport sector is important to us all – whether for commuting to work, visiting friends and family, shopping, being able to travel to other services such as hospitals or schools, and for enjoying leisure time and healthy pursuits.
“It is a real privilege, and I am excited to continue to work with the government and transport providers regarding train services, fairer fares, and more locally pushing for the station to serve our Grove and Wantage residents and improve accessibility at Cholsey station.
“I am looking forward to continuing to fight for the best possible travel outcomes for everyone."
The committee consists of 11 members who are responsible for scrutinising the work of the department and its ministers, holding inquiries and making policy recommendations.
