A new date has been given for the reopening of a major road in Bicester after it was announced phase three of the Banbury Road Roundabout project would be delayed.

The southern side of Banbury Road from the roundabout to Lodge Close in Bicester is currently shut due to the Banbury Road Roundabout improvement project taking place.

The road was supposed to reopen at the end of this month, however due to problem in the supply change, the reopening was delayed by a week.

Oxfordshire County Council then announced the road was expected to re-open on November 7.

Now, the council has confirmed the road will reopen on Monday, November 4.

A spokesperson for Oxfordshire County Council today said: “We are pleased that phase three of the Banbury Road roundabout improvements will be completed on November 4.

“Banbury Road south will re-open on the same day, with the 500 bus resuming its original route via Banbury Road south from November 5.

“Our teams will start work on phase four straight away, with work to build up the carriageway on the B4100/A4095 at Lords Lane.

"To keep our teams safe, we will need to use narrow lanes and temporary traffic lights during this work.

“The improved junction will be finished in February 2025, with work to resurface the road and complete electrical work.

“We are grateful for the continued patience of residents and the travelling public.”
