An on-going police operation has gathered "useful" intelligence from lorry drivers into organised criminal gangs, police say.

PCSOs from the Bicester and Kidlington Neighbourhood team were assisting colleagues from Modern Slavery and Organised Immigration Crime at Cherwell Valley Services recently.

As part of an on-going operation, they said they provided a highly visible presence in the lorry park in a response to a number of targeted of thefts from trailers and containers.

Lorry drivers were engaged with and given security advice on keeping themselves, their vehicles and cargo safe.

A statement on social media about the operation said: "The deployment was also an opportunity to talk to the lorry drivers about their experiences with migrants concealing themselves in vehicles that are destined for the UK.

"Lots of useful intelligence was obtained from the Lorry Drivers that will be valuable in building a fuller picture of the latest trends and Modus Operandi of the Organised Criminal Gangs."
