A burger trailer has been slammed with a shocking zero food hygiene rating.

The Saucy Hound which can be found canalside by The Old Coal Wharf in Cropredy near Banbury serves a variety of meals including breakfast, burgers, pizzas, flatbreads and toasties.

It was visited by Cherwell District Council’s Environmental Health team on Thursday, August 22 and inspectors were left less than impressed.

With the message of 'urgent improvement' needed at the venue, the business was slammed with the lowest zero-out-of-five food hygiene rating.

One key fault area was The Saucy Hound’s management of food safety which required 'major improvement' according to the report.

This refers to having a system or checks in place to ensure that the food sold or served is safe to eat and if there is evidence that staff know about food safety.

It also concerns whether or not the food safety officer has confidence that standards will be maintained in future.

The cleanliness and condition of facilities and building were also lambasted by the inspector with the report highlighting that these also required 'major improvement'.

This includes having an appropriate layout, ventilation, hand washing facilities and pest control to enable good food hygiene.

Improvement was also deemed necessary regarding the hygienic handling of food which includes the preparation, cooking, re-heating, cooling and storage of food served and sold onsite.
