“I brought this incredible piece out of the water and with the power of social media and the internet I would love to find out who this belongs to and get it returned to them.

“Was it lost, stolen or thrown away?

“There is something engraved on the back along with something only the person who it belongs to will know.”

The 44-year-old has been magnet fishing for four years now and has found a variety of items in Oxfordshire waters but the engraved ring stands out.

“We find many interesting things over the years from bikes and trollies to ammunition and historical items,” she said.

“I have never come across anything like this and would love to know how it got into the water and what the story is behind it.”

The fishing enthusiast has shared several images of the rare jewellery find in the hopes that she can reunite it with its owner.
