Oxford University’s youngest student has opened up about his first month at the historic institution.

Miguel Donaire Arcas-Sariot of Granada, Spain was just 15 years old when he gained a place at the University of Oxford.

Born in 2008, the Spaniard is the youngest student in the whole of the university this year and began his Mathematics and Computer Science degree on Monday, October 7.

Life adjusting to Oxford has not been easy according to a chat with the Sur in English publication, with Miguel missing his family, friends, weather and food.

His mother José Arcas-Sariot says that he is also "pleased" with the people that he has met from so many cultures at the university.

Two Polish and three Chinese friends who Miguel recently met now call him "the Dani Olmo of Oxford" as they think he looks similar to the Barcelona and Spain footballer.

Miguel added: “What I'm most excited about are the classes.”

Students of course engaged in fresher’s week and were given talks about how both the city and the university as well as individual colleges work.

Miguel was shown where the laundry room, library, chapel and dining room were with people at the university answering other logistical and administrative questions to help him settle in.

He continues to solve mathematical puzzles with his sister, Lucía, as they have done since being children, via the internet and video calls.

Having started university two years earlier, Miguel has been assigned two second-year students, one national and one international, to aid him throughout the first year.
