Artists from across Oxford have been invited to enter a competition to have their work displayed at a new venue in Westgate shopping centre.

Flight Club, a fairground-inspired bar and social darts experience, is opening in Oxford in November and is calling for submissions to its 'Window of Opportunity' competition.

The winning artist will see their work exhibited in a window outside the bar’s new Westgate venue.

The bar is challenging Oxford's artists to submit pieces that convey their interpretation of the word 'joy'.

Steve Moore, CEO and co-founder of Flight Club, said: "Our award-winning interiors team take the design of our bars extremely seriously, with art of all mediums always playing a huge part in the overall vibe of our venues.

"Our newest venue in Oxford is no exception, but this time we want to extend our celebration of art beyond the inside of our venue and take the joy outside too.

All entries should be submitted to creative@red-engine.com by November 1.

The artwork must be in a 9:16 aspect ratio and suitable for audiences of all ages, and entrants must be aged 18 or older.

The winning piece will be on display in time for the venue's opening on November 22.

Situated on the rooftop terrace level of Westgate shopping centre, Flight Club promises to be a vibrant addition to Oxford’s bar scene.

"Flight Club’s 21st-century take on darts consists of immersive, fast-paced multi-player games that anyone can play paired with stunning cocktails in spectacular surroundings."

Its social darts tracks the position of every dart, automatically keeping score and producing celebratory live-action replays on screen throughout the game.

Mr Moore added: “We are very passionate about supporting the local communities where our venues are located so we’re thrilled to be able to provide such an opportunity for the artistic talent of Oxford.

First launched in 2015 in London’s Shoreditch, Flight Club now has 22 venues worldwide.

Across its venues, it has, to date, welcomed more than eight million visitors and seen 614 million darts thrown.
