Public notices are adverts placed by councils and other local authorities to inform people of developments in their areas.

They can cover a wide variety of topics that may impact your life.

They can include planning applications and appeals, road closures or proposals by pubs or nightclubs hoping to change their opening hours or make other variations.

The purpose of a public notice is to make sure anybody - either an individual or a group - with an interest has an opportunity to find out about and comment on the proposal before a decision is made on whether to allow it to go ahead.

Here are the latest:

Christmas event in Oxford city centre: Keston Events Ltd has applied for a premises licence to allow on and off premises sale of alcohol and live and recorded music on Broad Street between 10am-10pm annually from the third weekend in November to the end of the first weekend of the following January each year.

Keston Events is the organiser for this year’s Christmas event in the city.

Full details of the application can be inspected on the licensing register at www.oxford.gov.uk. Any representations about the application should be made in writing and can be emailed to licensing@oxford.gov.uk by November 7.

New Lebanese restaurant: London-based Raymoc Ltd has applied for a premises licence at Jasmine & Olives, 11 Windmill Road, Headington.

The ground-floor restaurant will serve Lebanese, Moroccan and Mediterranean food.

The application states the establishment is modest in size, accommodating between 28 and 32 guests with hours of operation beginning at 7am to 11am starting with coffee service and breakfast, followed by lunch. Alcohol will only be served between 11am and 11pm every day.

The application says: "We anticipate our primary clientele to consist of staff from the nearby hospitals as well as local residents. Our diverse menu includes a variety of Moroccan and Lebanese dishes, alongside a selection of tapas, catering to a wide range of tastes."

Blackbird Leys redevelopment scheme: The Secretary of State has given notice of the intention to stop up of a length and part-width of Blackbird Leys Road, including a length of unnamed footpath, a further length of unnamed footpath and an eastern part-width of Blackbird Leys Road.

This is to enable the redevelopment of Blackbird Leys District Centre and land off Knights Road as authorised by Oxford City Council.

The project by Peabody and the council is creating a new District Centre at Knights Road, a more accessible public space, new shops and new affordable homes.

Copies of the order may be obtained, free of charge, from the Secretary of State, National Transport Casework Team, Tyneside House, Skinnerburn Road, Newcastle Business Park, Newcastle upon Tyne NE4 7AR or nationalcasework@dft.gov.uk (quoting NATTRAN/SE/S247/5737). The order may also be inspected at Oxford City Council and Oxford Westgate Library.

Any person who wishes to challenge the validity of the decision to make the order may apply to the High Court within six weeks from October 21, 2024.

Oxford road closure: Burchester Avenue will be restricted from two-way traffic to one-way between Bernwood Road and Underhill Circus from October 23.

This is because of water mains works which are anticipated to be completed on November 13. Waiting will also be prohibited in the section of road for the duration of the works. This is a 24-hour restriction.

The alternative route for traffic is via Stowford Road, Bayswater Road, North Way, Burchester Avenue.

Oxford road closure: North Street in Osney has been closed to vehicles between 9.30am and 5pm on weekdays since October 13 because of crane operations to lift steel materials to new building works at Oxford station. Residents parking is also temporarily suspended only during these hours.

These works are anticipated to be completed on January 31, 2025.

The road will, however, be open and unrestricted from 5pm on December 9 until January 2, 2025.

The alternative route for traffic is via East Street, South Street, Bridge Street and vice versa.

Review of polling stations: West Oxfordshire District Council is conducting a review of polling district and polling places.

Written comments and representations are invited from any electors and other interested persons and bodies, including elected representatives and those with expertise in relation to access to premises or facilities for disabled people.

The council will request submissions from the (acting) Returning Officer for the constituency of Witney and the part of the Banbury and the Bicester and Woodstock constituencies within the West Oxfordshire District Council authority area.
