Oxford Universities Motorsport Foundation has become the first student car club to join Motorsport UK's StreetCar programme.
StreetCar, launched in 2022, aims to show motorsport is affordable and accessible and encourages more people to get behind the wheel.
There are now 67 clubs across the country that are part of the StreetCar community.
Members of the initiative can take part in a variety of disciplines, including autotest, rally, trials, and cross country events, using a standard, unmodified road car.
Current Oxford Universities Motorsport Foundation president, Oliver Raja-Brown, said: "The opportunity for students to have the chance to drive their own car and experience how the mechanics affects the handling, be it a 12 car rally or a scatter rally, it really allows for a deeper understanding of how it affects the car’s dynamics.
"We are hoping to do more events this year, so the opportunity to join StreetCar will highlight other opportunities alongside engineering, that every petrol head really wants to do."
The club, created by Ding Boston in 2005, provides real racing experience to the next generation of motorsport professionals and enthusiasts.
All the cars in its garage have been built from the ground up by its student members.
The club has a core team of 12, with around 50 new recruits this year, and an action-packed 2025 planned.
