The mother of a young girl who was allegedly sexually abused by a pensioner told a jury she was ‘shocked’ by her daughter's confessions.
Donald Davies, 84, is currently on trial at Oxford Crown Court charged with child sex offences which allegedly took place between 2004 and 2014 against a young girl.
The 84-year-old, of Dunnock Way, Oxford, has denied the offences against the girl, who cannot be named for legal reasons, which offences allegedly took place in Blackbird Leys.

During the trial on Friday (October 11), the mother of the complainant took the stand and told the jury she was ‘shocked’ when her daughter told her what allegedly happened.
She said: “I was sat in the front room and she said, ‘Mum, I’ve got something to tell you’ and she told me that Don [Davies] used to interfere with her and have sex with her.

“I was really shocked. She appeared very quiet, she just looked so quiet and scared. It came to my mind….she was such a quiet child...she was not talkative so to me I thought he singled her out because she was quiet.
“She never mentioned [anyone else]. I encouraged her, I said, ‘You need to go to the police’ but she said, ‘Mum, there is no proof’.”
The trial, which is expected to last up to five days, continues.
