This weekend's Oxford Half Marathon is set to cause road closures across the city.

The event, taking place on Sunday, October 13, is set to feature 13,000 participants, raising funds for both local and national charities.

Organisers have warned of road closures throughout the city, with many starting at 8am and reopening at various times throughout the day, with most expected to reopen by 2.30pm.

Some roads, however, will be closed earlier in preparation for the race.

Broad Street, between Turl Street and Magdalen Street East, will close on Saturday, October 12, at 8am.

These closures are in place for the installation and de-rigging of the start and finish areas.

There will also be restricted local access in Park Town/Norham Manor, Summertown, and Marston.

Residents within the Norham Manor CPZ will be able to park west of Banbury Road in North Oxford CPZ from Saturday evening to Sunday evening.

Parking suspensions will be in place on certain roads, with advance notices indicating the exact times suspensions will be enforced.

Motorists are advised to allow extra time for their journeys, and to avoid driving in the affected areas during the closures, if possible.

Those needing their vehicles on Sunday are advised to consider parking on alternative roads outside of the road closures.

Emergency service and pedestrian access will not be affected.

A clearly signed diversion will be in place from 8am to 2.30pm on Sunday to allow travel to the south and east of Oxford.

The diversion will use Hythe Bridge Street, Oxpens Road, Abingdon Road, Donnington Bridge, and Iffley Road.
