Parents of children with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) are set to help shape the future of home to school transport in Oxfordshire by sharing their experiences.
Parents and carers have been invited to attend a transport listening event organised by Oxfordshire County Council and Oxfordshire Parent Carers Forum.
The online event is scheduled for Thursday, October 17, between 11am and 1pm.
Parents and carers of children with SEND are encouraged to register their interest in attending the event in advance. This can be done via this link.
Councillor Kate Gregory, Oxfordshire County Council’s cabinet member for SEND improvement, said: "We’re keen to hear the thoughts and experiences of parents and carers, so we can find ways to do things better.
"While it’s an important opportunity for views to be heard, issues raised will not be resolved on the day.
"However, I give my commitment that we will carefully consider everyone’s feedback."
The county council currently arranges transport for about 1,700 children and young people, aged four to 19, to and from school each day using minibuses and taxis.
The event will focus on three main areas - identifying what is working well and what needs to be improved, enhancing communication between parents, the county council, and taxi companies, and addressing the challenges with current travel arrangements.
