Bridging the Gap
As firm believers in the sentiment that one size does not fit all, Oxford Sixth Form College is committed to ensuring that we offer the right support for your child.
Whatever your past experiences, we can help your child to level the playing field by providing a learning environment conducive to their success. Our dedicated and experienced team work with our students to develop personalised learning strategies, helping them to overcome any difficulties and reignite their love for learning.
An Individual Approach
From the moment we receive your child’s application we regard them as an individual. Our focused and inclusive admissions process helps us to understand their motivations, personality and preferred ways of learning, allowing us to support them towards achieving the best possible outcomes. We help them to break down barriers, remove obstacles and find new ways to reach their goals; the most obvious path is not always the right path.
In addition to the traditional two-year A-Level, we offer a coursework-focused BTEC Business Extended Diploma. This carries UCAS points equivalent to three A-Levels and is recognised by 95% of top UK universities. We interview each and every student who applies to the college, to ascertain the best programme and subjects they should be studying in order to meet their academic goals.
With an average of just 6 students in a class, teachers really get to know their students and, where possible, are able to adapt their teaching to suit individual learning styles. The result is that time is spent on building individual academic strengths and helping to improve in weaker areas. Students are more engaged, classes are more interactive and grades rise. Everyone wins.
Senior Tutors guide and support each student from the moment they enrol at the College to the moment they receive their exam results, and beyond. As well as supporting them throughout their university applications, they act as a hub through which communication is streamlined between parents and the college, ensuring an holistic view and the best possible academic and pastoral support at all times.
Year after year, almost two thirds of our students gain entry to their first-choice university. Although these include UK Top 20 and Russell Group institutions, our pride comes from seeing them progress to the university and degree course that best fits their personal aspirations.
A Vibrant, Global Community
As soon as you step through the doors you will feel the warmth of our community. We aim to create a diverse and enriching environment that our students can thrive in; a place of belonging, where students from around the world live, learn and grow together as global citizens. With a 75% international student body, we celebrate and welcome the cultural diversity, ambition and global outlook that our students bring to the college.
There are plenty of social events throughout the year to help them get to know their peers, as well as a thriving, yet non-compulsory, extra-curricular programme. The connections and friendships our students make through being part of this warm and inclusive community will benefit them for the rest of their lives.
Oxford Sixth Form College is, well, just that: we are a college, not a school. There are no uniforms; teachers and students are on first name terms, there is mature approach to learning with emphasis on students managing their own workloads; perfect for preparing them for university life within an informal yet supportive environment.
