The newly-appointed manager of a Wantage care home set to open later this month said she wants to make it a place residents are "proud to call their home".
Carla Kell has been appointed by Care UK to lead the team at Charlton Lodge, which is set to open on Monday, October 28.
Ms Kell brings more than 31 years of experience in the care sector to her new role.
She has spent the last four years as home manager of another care home, also providing residential, nursing, and dementia care.
Her new position will see her take responsibility for the day-to-day running of Charlton Lodge, which will provide care for up to 72 residents.
Ms Kell said: "I'm delighted to have been appointed as the home manager for Charlton Lodge.
"I’m thrilled to be joining the Care UK family as an integral part of the new home.
"I place great value in being a trusted face within the home and the wider community, and I feel incredibly privileged to be taking on this role.
"As part of the leadership team, one of my key focuses will be ensuring Charlton Lodge offers a safe, stimulating, and fun place to spend time, as well as being somewhere residents are proud to call their home.
“I’m keen to create an open, positive, and inclusive atmosphere advocating dignity, independence, choice, and self-fulfilment for all residents.
"I strive to ensure my team always provides the professional and empathetic care everyone deserves.
"We can't wait to open our doors this October and show the community all that Charlton Lodge has to offer."
Care UK said Ms Kell will "place a strong focus on being calm, patient, proactive, and empathetic when it comes to interacting with colleagues, residents, families, and other stakeholders".
Charlton Lodge is also set to welcome Mark Young as its new customer relations manager. He will join from sister care home Millers Grange in Witney.
Angela Zuraw, regional director for Care UK, said: "Charlton Lodge marks an important investment for Care UK, and we're thrilled to have Carla and Mark on board.
“Every detail of the home has been considered to provide the highest standards of care, but having the right team is key to the overall experience for the residents.
"Carla has plenty of experience, passion and empathy and I’m confident she’ll be a fantastic new addition to the Care UK family.
“I’m looking forward to working with Carla and Mark to appoint the rest of the team ahead of the home opening this autumn."
