A trial date has been set for a woman accused of allowing her dog to sustain further injuries after it was paralysed following a dog attack.

Chloe Elkins, 27, appeared at Oxford Magistrates’ Court on October 4 charged with two counts of causing unnecessary suffering to a protected animal between December 7 and 13 last year.

It is alleged that Elkins, of Blue Mountains, Wallingford, had failed to follow professional veterinary advice after her female dachshund named Fifi became paralysed after a dog attack.

The defendant reportedly allowed the dog to sustain further injuries and develop sores from urine scalding.

Elkins has pleaded not guilty to both counts at the lower court. She will appear again on December 20 this year for trial.
