Up to 350 new houses could be built on the north side of an Oxfordshire town if plans are approved.
Harper Crewe Bloombridge intends to submit an outline planning application for the development off Burford Road in Brize Norton.
The roughly 17 hectare site is on the northern edge of Carterton is currently undeveloped and comprises principally of arable fields in agricultural use.
Under the scheme, the access would be via the construction of a new mini roundabout on Burford Road and active travel connections are proposed on the southern boundary to provide pedestrian and cycle access to Kilkenny Lane.

A Transport Assessment (TA) has been done as preparation of the outline planning application.
It states that the development is in a "sustainable and accessible location close to public transport connections" and the existing active travel network "is proposed to be enhanced as part of the development, thereby reducing the reliance of future occupiers on the private car".
It states the development "could generate approximately 90-110 additional vehicle trips in the weekday morning and evening peaks" and this "can be adequately accommodated by the proposed access from Burford Road".
In terms of the wider network, "the TA finds that the anticipated increases in traffic movements are not of a magnitude that would lead to a ‘severe impact’".
The application submitted to West Oxfordshire District Council requests an environmental impact assessment (EIA) screening opinion for any future application.
