A popular pub in east Oxford hosted an Oktoberfest German beer festival at the weekend celebrating all things German. 

The Chester Arms of Iffley Road hosted the event Friday (October 4) and Saturday (October 5), which saw people dressed up in Lederhosen's. 

There were five German beers on tap and a full menu of German food for visitors to enjoy.

Oxford Mail editor Tim Hughes attended the event on Saturday.

He said: "The Chester is at the heart of the community and it never fails to disappoint with its special events.

"This was one of the best of the year.

"The German Beer and food was spot on. 

"It will give anywhere in Munich a run for its money."

A statement on The Chester Arm's Instagram page posted on Sunday (October 6)  said: "Thank you to all who came along to celebrate all things German.

"Hope you enjoyed a weekend of great beer and exceptional food.

Oktoberfest is the world's largest Volksfest, featuring a beer festival and a travelling carnival, and is held annually in Munich from mid or later September to the first Sunday in October.

In 2025, the 190th Oktoberfest will take place from September 20 to October 5 on the Theresienwiese in Munich.
