A five-year plan for improving accommodation and tackling homelessness in north Oxfordshire can now be reviewed by the public.
Cherwell District Council is inviting residents to voice their opinions on the Housing Strategy 2025-2030 during an eight-week consultation beginning today, October 7.
The strategy's priorities include delivering affordable homes, improving existing housing, and promoting health and wellbeing through housing.
Over the 2019-2024 period, the council collaborated with housing providers to deliver 1,344 new social homes, awarded more than 100 improvement grants, and adapted more than 900 homes for those with disabilities.
Councillor Nick Cotter, portfolio holder for housing, said: "Everyone deserves a safe and comfortable roof over their head, so we work to improve standards for people who rent their homes and to combat homelessness and rough sleeping.
“The Housing Strategy underpins how we approach these tasks, so it’s vital that we update it to prepare us for future challenges and ask the public to have their say.
“People’s feedback will help us continue to provide high-quality services to some of the most vulnerable people in our communities.”
The council updates its housing strategy every five years, guided by a review of local and national issues affecting housing.
Upon the adoption of the final strategy, an action plan will be developed, with progress reported annually to the overview and scrutiny committee.
The consultation will end on Thursday, November 28.
