A driver has been ordered to pay almost £400 after being caught speeding on the motorway.

Thomas King, of Brookside Estate, Chalgrove, was caught speeding on February 18 this year on the M1, near Northampton.

The 33-year-old was caught on an automatic speed camera speeding in an Mercedes vehicle between junctions 16 and 17.

He was caught driving at 73mph in a 60mph speed limit zone.

At Northampton Magistrates’ Court on September 26, he was found guilty and fined £220.  Three penalty points were also added to his driving record.

There were also court costs of £88 and a victim surcharge of £90.

The total amount he will need to pay by the end of October is £398.
