Sixty-five runners at this year's Oxford Half Marathon will be wearing bright yellow vests as they take part in support of a charity that helps people with learning disabilities and autism.
Yellow Submarine provides a range of services for those with mild to moderate needs, such as social clubs, activity days, residential holidays, and traineeship, all aimed at fostering confidence and independence.
Matt, who will be running in support of the charity on October 13, said: "I am keenly anticipating running in aid of Yellow Submarine, a worthwhile cause which is close to me.
"Since finishing college, my younger brother has loved being part of the community at Yellow Submarine.
"He told me that he 'enjoys planning the events at Periscope, and I like seeing the staff as well'."
Anna Dashwood, who works in the charity's Life Changing Cafés, added: "I've been working at the Oxford Yellow Submarine Café supporting trainees for a year now.
"It's been amazing to see the positive changes in these young people.
"They learn so much - customer service skills, the expectations of the workplace, and importantly they build positive interactions with peers, staff, and the wider community.
"I have chosen to take on the half marathon as a challenge for myself but also to raise money for this charity which really believes in giving opportunities to young people with learning disabilities and autism."
