More than 1,000 homes were impacted by a power cut in Oxford yesterday (October 4).
Scottish and Southern Electricity Networks (SSEN) engineers arrived on site after the outage was reported at 3.22pm.
They aimed to restore power by 9.30pm and the power cut covered a large area of Headington, impacting 1074 homes and 81 postcodes.
A traffic-light signal stopped working due to the outage. READ MORE: Bus driver 'assaulted' whilst on duty on A40 near Witney
Scottish and Southern Electricity Network says it was an "unplanned fault" and the cause of the power cut was due to a fault on SSEN's underground network.
A statement from SSEN said: "This is the most common type of fault we see and our teams are very experienced in dealing with these issues."
The network apologised for the outage.
