Search and rescue teams have been called in and police patrols stepped up in the search for a missing 67-year-old woman.

Thames Valley Police said  they are 'increasingly concerned' for the welfare of Zhihui who was last seen in Croft Road, Marston, in Oxford, at around 6pm yesterday (Thursday, October 3).

She is a keen walker and may have been near the River Cherwell, said police.

She is Chinese, is around 5 feet 3 inches tall and has shoulder-length brown/grey hair, which is likely to be worn in a low bun.

She was last seen wearing grey trousers with a purple puffer jacket.

Police have issued a fresh appeal and urged anyone who sees her to call 999.

Superintendent Bruce Riddell, LPA Commander for Oxford City, said: “We are becoming increasingly concerned for Zhihui’s welfare and would ask anyone with information on where she may be to get in touch.

“Zhihui is a regular walker, and goes out walking twice a day. Her typical route includes up Headington Road, along Headley Way and down Marston Road.

“She may frequent Marston Road Sports Ground, or have headed towards Fairfax Avenue, University Parks or possibly the River Cherwell."

“There is an increased police presence while we look for Zhihui, with assistance from Lowland Rescue Oxfordshire.

“I ask any residents living in the aforementioned areas to please check any doorbell or CCTV cameras in case it has captured anything which may assist our investigation."
