A programme offering adults with learning disabilities and autism the chance to take part in activities on farms and in green spaces in Oxfordshire has received a £5,000 donation.

FarmAbility was chosen by a Tesco customer to receive the money as part of the supermarket's Stronger Starts scheme.

On Saturday, September 21, Tesco customers at Langford Bicester Express were given the chance to take part in a lucky dip to find a specially created gold version of Tesco’s blue voting token.

FarmAbility was one of three charities the customer could choose to receive the £5,000 Golden Grant.

Coralie Hopwood, the CEO of FarmAbility, said: "We are delighted to be awarded this grant from the Tesco Stronger Starts scheme.

"These funds will enable us to collaborate with our colleagues in education settings to provide fun, meaningful, and fulfilling experiences on farms to young people with additional needs, expanding horizons and building confidence and skills in the outdoors."

Across the country, more than 100 Tesco stores took part in the Golden Grants event, with £500,000 in total being donated to good causes that help children and young people.

Claire De Silva, Tesco's head of communities, said: "We know that £5,000 can make a huge difference to a school or community project, so we are incredibly proud to have been able to award Golden Grants to over 100 schools and local projects."
