South Central Ambulance Service (SCAS) has confirmed there are proposals to restructure its corporate services amid fears over job losses.

Concerns have been expressed that there would be redundancies made at Bicester HQ, however SCAS has confirmed that no jobs have been cut at this time.

The service said the proposals for change have not been "entered into lightly" and roles "may be at risk".

Stuart Rees, acting chief finance officer, said: “South Central Ambulance Service is currently consulting with staff about proposals to restructure our corporate services directorates.

"The proposed restructure is part of a wider programme of work to return the Trust to financial sustainability and ensure we are fit for the future.

"At the heart of this is the principle that we will aim to maintain the same level of resource available for direct patient care.

“The proposals for change are not something that Trust leadership has entered into lightly. We understand that this consultation process will have an impact on colleagues whose roles may be at risk and on the teams they work in."

Mr Rees said the service is "committed to supporting all colleagues affected by these proposals".

“The internal consultation, which began on August 20, will close on October 11, after which responses will be carefully considered before a final structure is agreed," he added.

"The new structures will be implemented by the end of March 2025.”

The service said there is planned deficit of £10.1m for the 2024/25 financial year and they expect to return to a breakeven position by the end of 2025/26 financial year.
