Plans for a new building to provide more operating theatres for Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (OUH) have been approved.
Oxford City Council has approved panning permission for the new Surgical Elective Centre.
It is being built on the John Radcliffe site in Oxford and will help to address waiting lists for complex routine procedures.
The project aims to meet the healthcare demands of the growing populations in Oxfordshire, Berkshire, and Buckinghamshire.
The centre will also feature hybrid theatres, which will allow the trust to offer the latest procedures across multiple specialties.
OUH said the new centre will "reduce elective waiting times and improve patient pathways for many years to come."
The project is set to be completed by the spring or summer 2026.
Work has already begun on the building, with contractors MTX supporting the project.
