Members of the public have been warned after severe flooding has left Oxford underpasses unusable.
Excessive rainfall throughout Sunday night and into Monday morning meant that flooding hit the county and caused several disruptions this morning (Monday, September 23).
Some schools were closed, bus services were diverted and underpasses as well as some walkways were rendered unpassable for pedestrians and cyclists.
One of the worst affected was the one on the Kennington to Oxford route which had standing water at roughly half a meter deep.

“Be careful, the underpass on the Kennington to Oxford route is really badly flooded,” warned one resident.
“[It is] maybe about half a meter deep.
“I usually make it through on my bike but not this time, I would avoid it altogether unless you have waders.
“I managed to go the road way past Go Outdoors and then onto the ring road cycle path which is just about passable if you’re careful.
“Be safe out there!”

The Rose Hill to Littlemore underpass was also left flooded from the heavy downpours but the water was not quite as deep at that walkway as the Kennington route.
This comes as an amber weather warning has been issued by the Met Office until 9pm today.
Initially, the flooding covered parts of west and north Oxfordshire, however this morning it was updated to cover the entire county.
