An Oxfordshire town has been paying respects after a councillor’s sudden and "untimely" death.
Wantage Town Council member Richard Fitzjohn passed away on Sunday, September 15, after a short illness.
Town mayor Angela Dunford said: “We were very sad to hear the news of Richard’s untimely death.
“He was a very thoughtful and well-respected member of the council since May 2023.
“His great experience was invaluable, we will all miss him.

“Our thoughts are with his family at this difficult time.
“It is such sad news. We are all shocked.”
A statement published on the Wantage Town Council website said: “We are saddened to announce the death of councillor Richard Fitzjohn who sadly passed away on Sunday, September 15, 2024 after a short illness.”
