The NHS is urging people to 'Act Now' in a sickle cell crisis.
Oxford University Hospitals will be one of 18 pilot sites launching the new initiative this month.
The 'Act Now' programme aims to improve the experience and clinical outcomes for those experiencing a sickle cell crisis.
The initiative, which coincides with Sickle Cell Awareness Month, supports a rapid and effective clinical response.
'Act Now' is an acronym for Analgesia, Compassion, Test/Triggers, Notify, Oxygen, and Watch.
It is included in the Royal College of Emergency Medicine's Best Practice Guideline.
The resources are now available to all staff in emergency departments, admission areas, and wards.
The NHS emphasises that every second counts in a sickle cell crisis.
