A football tournament in memory of a woman with spina bifida was cancelled.

The Kelly Jackson Memorial Fund announced the cancellation of its annual charity five-a-side day, which was set to take place on September 15, due to late withdrawals from some teams.

The tournament, which was initially set for June 8, had already been postponed twice.

The event, in memory of Kelly Jackson, aimed to raise funds for the Kelly Jackson Memorial Fund.

The charity is working towards purchasing an all-purpose wheelchair-accessible caravan in Weymouth.

The tournament was to feature a barbecue, sweet stalls, a bouncy castle, and a DJ.

There were also plans for awards for the best team name and best-dressed team.

Ms Jackson, who lived in Donnington, was born with spina bifida, a condition where a baby's spine and spinal cord do not develop properly in the womb, causing a gap in the spine.

She died in April 2020.

Unable to walk, she spent most of her life in a wheelchair but was an active charity worker with Oxford Phab, which provides social activities for people with and without disabilities.

The Kelly Jackson Memorial Fund has a host of other events lined up for the rest of the year, including bingo, a race night, and a new event of wreath making in December.

The tournament is expected to be rescheduled for next year.
