A care home stepped up to run the refreshment stand at the 2024 World Textile Fair, held at Chipping Norton Town Hall.

Middletown Grange, in Hailey Village, near Witney teamed up with its sister home Southerndown and Chipping Norton Town Council to support the fair by providing fresh homemade cakes and cupcakes.

These were baked specially by the chef and his team at the home for all of the visitors throughout the day.

With more than 150 cakes prepared there was plenty to go round at the popular event.

General manager Mirela Ghiuvea began with an idea to build links between the care home and the local council to see what support can be offered in and around the community with events.

She asked her team in the home to come up with ways to help.

She said: “We feel so strongly towards supporting our local community, and being situated in locally it makes complete sense to help out where we can.

“Our very talented chef and team are always on hand to support, and it was lovely to bring some of our home baked treats to the people of Chippy and see so many residents of the community at the event.”

Middletown Grange care home is run by Barchester Healthcare, one of the UK’s largest care providers, which is committed to delivering personalised care across its care homes and hospitals.

Middletown Grange provides residential care, nursing care and dementia care for residents from respite care to long term stays.
