A cyclist in his 70s is in hospital after he was injured in a hit and run in Oxfordshire. 

The collision happened on the A4130 near Halifax Road in Wallingford between 6am and 6.10am this morning (Monday, September 16).

The man suffered minor injuries, including a laceration to the back of his head, which required hospital treatment where he remains, police said. 

He was struck by a white long wheel based van, which had no sign writing on it and was clean, and described as possibly a Fiat Ducato.

The driver of the van did not stop at the scene.

Investigating officer PC Alex Manderson of the Roads Policing Unit, said: “This collision occurred early this morning on the A4130.

“The cyclist sustained injuries, which thankfully were not serious, but he did require treatment in hospital.

“I am appealing to anybody who was driving on this stretch of road this morning and witnessed the incident, or who may have dash-cam footage, to please get in touch with Thames Valley Police.

“I would also like to appeal directly to the driver of the van to contact us."
