Construction of a new secondary school in Grove is underway.
St John's CE Academy Secondary School, which is being built on the old Grove Airfield, will cost £28.2 million and aims to provide state-of-the-art facilities to the Wellington Gate and Grove community.
The academy will offer the first all-through education option in the area, from nursery to Year 11, with places for around 600 pupils.
The secondary school will be a short walk from the primary school site, which opened in 2023 and is welcoming a new year group each year until it has children from nursery to Year 6.
The school is being built as part of Persimmon Homes' 2,500 home Wellington Gate Development.
Executive headteacher, Rick Holroyd, said: "St John's CE Academy is built on a Christian ethos of 'living life in all its fullness' (John 10:10), welcoming all, regardless of faith or belief, and developing talents in all areas of life.
"At the heart of our school are the values of respect, courage, and kindness, guiding our efforts to help students build the qualities that enable people to flourish together.
"With a modern, aesthetically pleasing design, we are creating an environment where students and staff feel proud to learn and work."
The building will be constructed over two floors, featuring a green roof and solar panels.
It will also boast both natural and synthetic playing fields, and sustainable drainage systems to manage rainwater.
John Boughton, managing director of Bouygues UK for Wales and the South West, which is building the school, said: "Bouygues UK is dedicated to building low carbon, energy-efficient structures with sustainability at the centre and we're so pleased to be building St John's Academy CE.
"Local communities are also at the heart of construction projects like these, and our St John's Academy CE project will also use locally sourced labour and materials to build a fantastic school for children in Grove."
Callum Jackson, head of school for the secondary phase, added: "We are committed to fostering a strong sense of belonging and mutual responsibility.
"Our small year groups will ensure that every student is known and understood as an individual, encouraging them to value who they are and who they can become.
"By developing strong partnerships with parents, carers, and the wider community, we will support each student's education and help them reach their full potential."
The school has already hosted information events ahead of the admissions deadline at the end of October.
These events provided an opportunity for the school to engage with the community and share their vision for the future.
