A property in south Oxfordshire with river views and tennis courts is on the market for more than £2 million.

The property, listed on property company Savills, provides a "unique opportunity" to acquire a two-acre plot overlooking the River Thames, complete with with mooring and riparian rights.

Sunnyridges, which is in Abingdon Road in the village of Dorchester, is on sale for £2,250,000.

The multi-use tennis court is a recent addition and planning permission has recently been granted to extend and remodel the house by up to 6,600 square foot.

The Environment Agency has given permission to enhance the riverside setting and in the last year has also approved the installation of an oak piling system extending around the inlet and along the full extent of the bank to enhance the site.

This would allow for the potential creation of a boathouse, subject to planning.

Savills states the gardens surrounding this property are a "rare find", particularly with a riverside setting.

At the end of the garden is a summerhouse with views down the river to Wittenham Clumps along with three further outbuildings adjacent to the summerhouse.

The property owner is able to access the river for swimming, kayaking and paddleboarding, and a wooden mooring jetty.

Savills said there is a close community around the river consisting of weekend boaters, anglers, runners and dog walkers.

It is possible to boat along the river to the centre of Oxford.

The planning permission granted in 2024 was a renewal of the planning granted in 2018 that had expired.

These plans were produced by a local architect to extensively extend the existing house to create a seven bedroom two-storey house of over 6,600 sq ft with a 17 x 3m indoor pool.

The proposed house included a generous entrance hall, large kitchen/dining/living room, sitting room, conservatory, study, utility and boot room, cloakroom and wine room.

A spa complex included a 17 metre pool, sauna, changing room with shower, gym and cloakroom.

A second staircase from the pool afforded direct access to the principal bedroom suite and on the first floor, the principal bedroom had a dressing room and en-suite bathroom with lake views.

There were six further bedrooms - three with en-suite facilities - and a family bathroom.

Property agent Charles Elsmore-Wickens said: "What a rare opportunity this is.

"It is hard enough to find a riverside plot, let alone one with such outstanding views and incredible potential.

"This is the perfect example of hard to beat."
