Emergency services responded to an incident close to an Oxfordshire primary school as the police warned members of the public to avoid the area.

Police cars and ambulances arrived at the Charlton Village road between the junctions of Barnards Way and Aldworth Avenue in Wantage at around 3.15pm on Wednesday, September 11.

Several emergency vehicles could be seen at the site as Thames Valley Police revealed that officers were dealing with a medical incident.

The response was close to Charlton Primary School which led to traffic increasing around the area during pick-up time.

A spokesperson for TVP said: “Police and Ambulance are on scene at a medical Incident in Wantage on the Charlton Village road between the junctions of Barnards Way and Aldworth Avenue.

“Avoid if at all possible. This will cause issues and delays with school collection.

“Please avoid the Charlton Road Village area around the junctions with Barnards Way and Aldworth Avenue.

"This is going to be impassable which will seriously impact school picking up."
